This Privacy Policy explains how BuildersHub (“BuildersHub,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information and related device or usage data when you use the BuildersHub website, mobile app, waitlist and survey forms, and related services.
BuildersHub is designed to help people connect around real projects, collaboration, and early-stage building. This policy is intended to give you a clear explanation of what we collect, how we use it, when it may be shared, and how you can contact us about your data.
2. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to:
- the BuildersHub Android app and related mobile experiences;
- the BuildersHub public website at builders.metalbrain.net;
- BuildersHub waitlist and survey forms;
- authentication, onboarding, profile, and project setup flows; and
- support or contact messages sent to BuildersHub.
3. Information we collect
Depending on how you use BuildersHub, we may collect the following categories of information.
- Account information: your name, email address, authentication provider, and account identifiers.
- Authentication and linked account information: if you sign in with Google or GitHub, we may receive basic account details made available by that provider, such as your name, email address, profile image, provider user ID, and related sign-in metadata needed to authenticate you.
- Profile information: information you choose to add to your BuildersHub profile, such as your display name, bio, role, interests, visibility choices, and other onboarding responses.
- Project information: information you submit about projects or ideas, including titles, descriptions, links, and selected visibility settings. If you connect external services in the future, we may also process selected metadata needed to support those connected features.
- Waitlist and survey information: email addresses, responses, timestamps, and anti-abuse signals submitted through public BuildersHub forms.
- Usage, device, and diagnostics data: app usage events, device type, operating system version, app version, language, crash information, and performance or stability metrics used to operate and improve the app.
- Security and abuse-prevention data: reCAPTCHA Enterprise assessment data, request metadata, and rate-limit or anti-abuse signals used to protect public forms and service endpoints.
- Support and communications data: the contents of messages or requests you send to us by email or through product-related contact channels.
4. How we collect information
We collect information in a few different ways:
- directly from you when you create an account, complete onboarding, update your profile, or submit a waitlist or survey form;
- from authentication providers, such as Google or GitHub, when you choose to sign in using those services;
- automatically from the app or website through diagnostics, analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring tools; and
- through security systems used to detect spam, fraud, misuse, or automated traffic.
5. How we use information
We use collected information to operate BuildersHub and support legitimate product and security needs, including to:
- create and maintain your account;
- authenticate users and manage sign-in sessions;
- build and display your profile, project information, and selected visibility settings;
- support BuildersHub product features, onboarding flows, and collaboration experiences;
- respond to waitlist requests, survey submissions, support requests, and product inquiries;
- improve the quality, performance, stability, and safety of the app and website;
- monitor crashes, service reliability, and abuse attempts;
- enforce our Terms of Use, product rules, and security controls; and
- comply with legal obligations or protect the rights, safety, and integrity of BuildersHub, our users, and others.
6. When information may be visible to others
BuildersHub is a community product. Some profile or project information you choose to provide may be visible to other BuildersHub users depending on your settings, the feature you are using, and how the product is designed at that time.
You should not submit private or confidential information that you do not want shared through a profile, project card, public link, or community-facing feature.
7. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell personal information. We may share or make information available in the following limited situations:
- Service providers and infrastructure: We use providers such as Google Firebase, Google Cloud, and related Google services to support authentication, database storage, hosting, diagnostics, analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, and abuse prevention.
- Authentication and connected services: If you choose to sign in with or connect a third-party account such as Google or GitHub, the handling of your data is also subject to that provider's own privacy terms and platform rules.
- Community visibility: Information you intentionally publish or make visible inside BuildersHub may be shown to other users according to the feature and your selected settings.
- Legal or safety reasons: We may disclose information where required by law, regulation, legal process, or where reasonably necessary to protect rights, security, and platform integrity.
- Business operations: We may use internal tools and operational workflows to review submissions, support users, and operate BuildersHub, subject to access controls and business need.
8. Security
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information handled by BuildersHub. These measures may include encrypted transport, controlled backend access, service-account-based infrastructure access, abuse-prevention systems, and logging used for operational security and troubleshooting.
No service can guarantee absolute security. You should also help protect your information by using secure sign-in methods, protecting your own accounts, and avoiding submission of sensitive information you do not want associated with BuildersHub.
9. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide BuildersHub, operate the service, protect the platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
- Account, profile, and project data: generally retained while your account remains active and for a limited period afterward where needed for security, legal, or operational reasons.
- Waitlist and survey data: retained for product research, contact, and launch planning until no longer needed or until deletion is requested where applicable.
- Diagnostics, crash, and performance data: retained according to our operational needs and the retention settings of the services we use.
- Backups and logs: may persist for a limited period after deletion requests where required for security, fraud prevention, disaster recovery, or legal compliance.
10. Your choices and requests
You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information that we hold about you, subject to legal and operational limitations.
If self-service deletion is not yet available in the app, you can request account or data deletion by emailing hello@metalbrain.net from the email address associated with your account or submission.
We may ask for information needed to verify your identity before taking action on a privacy request.
11. Children
BuildersHub is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not intend to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate legal basis or required consent.
If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to BuildersHub, please contact us at hello@metalbrain.net so we can review the situation and, where appropriate, delete the information.
BuildersHub also maintains publicly accessible Child Safety Standards that prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation on the platform.
12. International processing
BuildersHub may use infrastructure and service providers that process or store information in different jurisdictions. By using BuildersHub, you understand that your information may be processed in locations where BuildersHub or its service providers operate, subject to applicable law and contractual or technical protections where relevant.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to BuildersHub, applicable law, or our data practices. When we make material updates, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page and may provide additional notice where appropriate.
